Hm, I didn't have much problems with them. I guess it's all about team builds.

I actually find the Chromatic Drakes managable, and only occasionally does someone die, usually Gwen. She is running an E Surge interrupt build which works wonders, as does Vekks SF build.

I think the real problem is you guys aren't used to fighting good enemies.
Hexes a problem? Bring hex removal.
Enchantments a problem? Bring enchantment removal.
OF a problem? Bring AoE spells and AoE enchantment removal.
Ward a problem? Interrupt it.
Damage a problem? Bring an extra monk.
Silver armor a problem? Remove it or tell your melee to stay away from the drake.
To be honest, these drakes are not hard if you have a decent build and use strategy. I've beaten them with 3 heroes and 4 henchies, I've beaten then with another human and 6 heroes. They are not hard, they are not overpowered.

the developers have hinted just to that with the ranked charr. they are saying now that pve is not just c-spacing with a few sf heroes. (notice, the destroyers, which seems to be one of the main enemies, are immune to SF). we see the same thing in the magni thing and the griffon one.

Yes, but it was because DoA mosnters were really overpovered bastards, and only because of that double damage thingie. Pretty much requiring tank and not fun to fight at all.
On the other hand, chromatic drakes are fun fun fun to fight against even if they are powerfull, mostly because thepir power is result of good skills they get, not because of just plain buffs.

Just went through the whole dreadmaw dungeon w/ plent of those drakes around. My team only wiped once cuz i didnt realize that ONE freakin snowball rolling through kills the ENTIRE freakin team. -.-
I was warrior and I just kept my heroes/henchies flagged back always 1 bubble back while i aggro-ed, dolyaked, endured, and death's charged my way to them. Sliver armor wasnt a problem since my armor took care of most of it and w/ my protector heroe's shielding hands, sliver armor was a joke, i just saw a bunch of 0s flying around. Now if you dont flag your team right or the aggro gets screwed then i can see how they would own ur team, but i only have one way to reply to that...
Remember that apparently "useless" profession from NF? called the paragon? They can be by-far the most powerful support class in the game. With Capt'n Morgan around, my team can tank A LOT of crap.

i've fought with teams of 6 chromatics and no one did die.
sometimes they can pack a nasty spike but that's all i've seen em be capable of.
sliver armor is just no problem since we only have 1 melee hench and i often interupt it.

The chromatic drakes are awesome! Seriously, there hasn't been any time in the game where I'd go "HOLY HELL THEY ARE CHANGING THEIR ELEMENTS!!" and think that that was so unique and cool.
No other monsters in Guild Wars do that ... NONE! Someone said to tone them down like the changing stone monsters in NF. Yeah, lets just get rid of all the cool monsters in the game why don't we?
The funny thing was that people have been asking for more unique and challenging monsters. To me, the chromatic drakes are it! You have to watch out what kind of element they are in and what skills they are using. Me and my party encountered them and managed them fine. As long as they don't go silver armour ... LoL. If they do I'd make it a point to disrupt it. Beat a mob of 4 chromatic drakes and then managed to wipe the other mob of 4 drakes when it wondered into my aggro area while we were still getting rid of the last chromatic drake from the previous mob.
Chromatic Drakes are unique, cool, challenging and they are here to stay. If you have a problem with said monsters, use the terrain more, pull better, get proper team builds because this is where the men are separated from the boys.

I run with 3 heros and devona, cynn, mehnlo, and lina. I've never had a problem with the chromatic drakes. They all attack what I target and between me and gwen we make sure our target doesn't get an armor enchant spell off. I find many of the norn skills work like elites. "Your move like a Dwarf" and "Finish him" almost cleave through them like a hot axe through butter.
Ironically I watched a group of those drakes fight destroyers and win.

Being a paragon I run full motivation with razah as a shelter/union/+attack spirit spammer and gwen or norgu as caster/melee shutdown. Rest of the team ive been running with a guild mate all w/e is a holy haste healer/ shield of regen prot monk a splinter barrager and a triple chop war.
Not a single death and with my guild mate pretty roll through every dungeon no problem.
The problem is not with the mobs or their skills it is with how your team is set up. Haven't got a single MM (do not want - the monk ai cannot prioritize) or SF nuker (cause of destroyers) in that team and no worries here.
Nothing overpowered here...

Never had problems with Chromatic Drakes. I (+heroes, +henches) kill them like every foe in the game, no easier no harder. Using 1 healer and 1 prot is enough.
On the other hand, Jotuns are a real pain. 6 of them killed my entire team + 4 'quest' Norns in Frostmaw's level 4 in notime.

You just have to kill them before they turn Earth and use Obsidian Flesh and Sliver Armor. Melonni with Avatar of Lyssa(or Grenth) and Acolyte Sosuke with Savannah Heat can take care of them pretty well.
